Rosemary Grant “A place that nourishes your soul.” “Launceston Tamar Valley is extremely fortunate because it’s where two great, fresh water rivers meet the sea, and where they meet is tidal. No wonder the city is where it is because it’s a meeting place - an inland town, with links to the sea – and the whole area revolves around water.
The other nice thing is it’s entirely itself; it’s not a reference to another place because it was settled by sea. We look north, but not to Melbourne, nor do we look south. It has an incredible spirit because it’s not dependent, it has it’s own integrity, and is entirely different to other places in Tasmania. The East Tamar has a superb micro climate, but I also like going into town because it’s like going on holiday every time, and full of nice things to interest you from streetscapes to parks and all manner of natural things. This is a place that nourishes your soul; it’s just perfect.” Rosemary Grant, rural reporter and East Tamar resident |
